Who Velora are
Velora is a Sydney custom joinery and cabinet-making business. For [15 years] we've designed, made and installed kitchens, wardrobes, vanities and whole-home joinery across the city, with [120+] Sydney projects completed so far.
The clients who end up happiest have one thing in common: they knew exactly what they were getting before we started. That is the idea the whole business is built on. You see a 3D design, you get a written itemised price, and the people who measured your room are the people who fit the finished cabinetry.
We'd describe good joinery as certainty more than luxury. Doors that line up. Drawers that close properly after ten years. A price that doesn't creep. None of it is glamorous, but it's what makes a renovation calm instead of stressful.
Why made-to-fit joinery beats standard boxes
Flat-pack cabinetry comes in fixed widths, usually in 150 mm steps, and your room has to work around it. The gaps get filled with panels, and awkward corners often end up as dead space. That's fine in a simple, square room on a tight budget.
We work the other way. Every cabinet is drawn to your measurements, so it fits the room you have, including walls that are 20 mm out of plumb, sloping ceilings in older terraces and bulkheads that hide pipes. End panels are scribed to the wall, and fillers are sized on site rather than guessed.
When flat-pack is the better call
We'll say it plainly: if you're furnishing a rental, working in a perfectly square room, or need something in place next week, flat-pack can be the sensible choice. Custom joinery earns its cost where the room is awkward, where you want storage to fit specific things, or where you plan to stay long enough to care how drawers run in year eight. If your project sits on the line, we'll tell you at the consultation rather than sell you something you don't need.
What goes into the cabinets
Carcasses are moisture-resistant particleboard or MDF, with HMR board in wet areas like bathroom vanities and laundries. Doors are finished in 2-pac polyurethane, Polytec or Laminex laminate, timber veneer or, for feature pieces, solid timber. Soft-close runners and hinges come from Blum, Hettich and Häfele as standard.

What working with us looks like
Most of what people value about a joiner has nothing to do with timber. It comes down to three things: knowing what you'll get, knowing what it costs, and having one person who answers the phone.
You see it before we build it
A 3D concept and shop drawings set expectations before anything is ordered. If you want the island 100 mm longer or the pantry on the other wall, we change it on paper, not on site.
A fixed price, in writing
You get an itemised quote covering design, board, finishes, hardware and installation. The price you sign off is the price you pay. We don't drip-feed variations once work starts.
One team, start to finish
Our own tradespeople measure, make and install the cabinetry, with one project manager as your contact. Licensed plumbers, electricians and gasfitters are booked and coordinated by us.
A tidy, predictable site
Floors are protected, offcuts go back to the workshop and you get a clear install date. Apartment jobs are planned around lift and loading dock bookings.
How a project runs, from first measure to final install
There is a clear path with a written quote before manufacture, so you always know what's next and what it costs.
Consult and measure (week 1)
We visit, listen to how you'll use the space and take precise measurements on site. We note wall and floor levels, existing services and any access limits such as stairs, narrow halls or lifts.
Design and quote (weeks 1 to 2)
You get a 3D concept, material selections and a fixed, itemised quote before anything is ordered. We'll often show two finish options side by side so you can see the price difference.
Manufacture (4 to 8 weeks)
Your joinery is built to the shop drawings in our workshop in [workshop suburb], typically 4 to 8 weeks from sign-off. Laminate is fastest. 2-pac and timber veneer are the longest because of spraying and curing.
Install and adjust
Cabinets are fitted, levelled and scribed. Doors and drawers are aligned and soft-close tested. Stone benchtops are templated once the base cabinets are in, which adds roughly one to two weeks.
Handover
We walk you through care, cleaning and hinge adjustment, and leave the site clean. Your work is covered by our [10-year] workmanship guarantee.
A full kitchen renovation, including demolition, plumbing, electrical and stone, commonly takes 12 to 20 weeks end to end. For a room-by-room breakdown, see the services overview or read the answers on our FAQ page.
Licences, insurance, guarantee and reviews
Paperwork doesn't make cabinets better, but it protects you if something goes wrong. Before you sign with any joiner, ask to see their licence and insurance. Here is ours.
- NSW licence number [licence number]
- Public liability insurance of [$20M]
- [10-year] workmanship guarantee on cabinetry we make and install
- Manufacturer warranties on Blum, Hettich and Häfele hardware and on Polytec and Laminex board
- [Industry awards, e.g. Local Business Awards finalist 2025 and Kitchen Design award 2025]
Home building work in NSW over $5,000 (including materials and GST) must be done under a written contract by a licensed contractor. Check any licence on the NSW Government licence lookup before you pay a deposit.
What clients say
[Google rating and review count]. We'd rather you read reviews in full on Google than trust a few lines chosen by us, so we link to them directly. [Link to Google Business Profile reviews]
If you'd like to talk to a past client with a similar project or suburb, ask at your consultation. Where the homeowner is happy to, we'll put you in touch.
The brands behind every build
We use the same materials and hardware that Sydney architects and designers specify. Not because the names look good on a quote, but because they're well tested and you can still buy replacement parts in ten years.
| Brand | What we use it for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Blum | Soft-close drawer runners, hinges, lift-up stays | Smooth action and easy adjustment, with a lifetime guarantee on many lines |
| Hettich | Drawer systems, hinges, wardrobe fittings | Strong runners for heavy pot drawers and wide wardrobe drawers |
| Häfele | Specialty internals, lighting, sliding systems | Pull-outs, corner solutions and LED strips for wardrobes and pantries |
| Polytec and Laminex | Laminate doors, panels and board | Hard-wearing, wide colour ranges and consistent supply |
| Porcelain, sintered and natural stone | Benchtops and vanity tops | Coordinated with a specialist fabricator and templated on site |
| Franke | Sinks and tapware | Supplied to suit the cabinetry and installed by a licensed plumber |
Hardware and finish choices are among the biggest drivers of price. Our cost guide explains how they affect the total.
What we build
Most of our work is residential. Custom kitchens are the largest share, followed by built-in and walk-in wardrobes, vanities and laundries. We also make butler's pantries, home office joinery, entertainment units and general cabinetry, plus commercial and architectural joinery for small fit-outs and designer-led projects.
You can see example projects, from a Bondi family kitchen to a Newtown terrace wardrobe, on our work page.
