Custom kitchens and joinery for Sydney homes

Velora designs, makes and installs custom joinery for Sydney homes: kitchens, built-in and walk-in wardrobes, bathroom vanities, laundries, home offices and storage. Every project starts with a free in-home measure and a 3D design, then a written itemised quote. Cabinetry is made in our workshop, typically 4 to 8 weeks from sign-off.

Our approach

Made to the millimetre, for the room you actually have.

Our process

How a custom joinery project works with us

The process is the same whether it's one vanity or a whole house. You get a drawing and a written price before anything is made, so there is nothing to guess at once work starts.

  1. Consult and measure

We come to your home, talk through how you use the space and take site measurements. This is free and usually takes about an hour. We check walls for square, floors for level and where the plumbing and power sit now.

  2. Design and quote

Within one to two weeks you get a 3D concept, shop drawings and a written, itemised quote covering board, finishes, hardware and installation line by line. Changes are made here, on paper, where they cost nothing.

  3. Make

Once you sign off, cabinetry is made in our workshop in [workshop suburb]. Allow 4 to 8 weeks: laminate is the quickest, while 2-pac and timber veneer take longest because of spraying and curing time.

  4. Install and hand over

Our team fits, levels and adjusts every door and drawer, then walks you through care and adjustment. Plumbers, electricians and gasfitters are licensed trades we book and coordinate.

A full kitchen renovation, including demolition, trades and stone, commonly runs 12 to 20 weeks from first visit to handover. Our FAQ page covers timing questions in more detail.

Materials and finishes

The finish you choose affects the look, the price and how long you wait. Here is the honest short version.

Carcasses are moisture-resistant particleboard or MDF, with HMR board in wet areas like bathrooms and laundries. Runners and hinges come from Blum, Hettich or Häfele, with soft-close as standard.

Example project

The Coastal Entertainer, a Bondi family kitchen

This example project shows how the process plays out on a real brief. The family wanted a kitchen that could handle weeknight cooking and weekend crowds without the benches disappearing under clutter. Warm timber, stone benchtops and a lot of hidden storage did most of the work.

The island is the centre of it: prep on one side, seating on the other, with deep drawers for pots underneath. Tall pantry and appliance cupboards keep the toaster and coffee machine off the bench. Near the coast we specified HMR carcasses at the sink run and hardware rated for salt air.

Questions

Common questions

What does Velora make?

We design, make and install custom joinery for Sydney homes and small businesses. That covers kitchens, built-in and walk-in wardrobes, bathroom vanities, laundries, home offices and shelving, butler's pantries, entertainment units and general cabinetry, plus commercial and architectural joinery. We coordinate stone benchtops, and licensed plumbers, electricians and gasfitters handle the connections.

How long does custom joinery take in Sydney?

Allow one to two weeks for design and quoting after the measure, then 4 to 8 weeks in the workshop from sign-off. Laminate is quickest, and 2-pac and timber veneer take longest because of spraying and curing. Installation of a kitchen usually takes a few days. A full kitchen renovation with trades is commonly 12 to 20 weeks end to end.

How much does a custom kitchen cost in Sydney?

As indicative 2026 Sydney market context, a budget or compact kitchen is roughly $15,000 to $25,000, mid-range $25,000 to $45,000, and a premium fully custom kitchen $45,000 to $80,000 or more. These are not our prices. We give you an exact, itemised quote after a free in-home measure.

Is the consultation and measure really free?

Yes. We visit, talk through how you use the space, measure and take photos at no cost. From there we prepare a 3D concept and a written, itemised quote. You only commit when you sign off the drawings and the price, and nothing is ordered or made before that.

Is custom joinery better than flat-pack?

Flat-pack is cheaper and fine for a rental or a simple square room. Custom joinery is built to your actual measurements, so it fills awkward walls and ceilings, uses better board and hardware, and is scribed tight to walls. It usually costs more up front but lasts longer and makes better use of the space.

Do you coordinate plumbers, electricians and stone benchtops?

Yes. We make and install the cabinetry and hardware, and book and coordinate the licensed plumbers, electricians and gasfitters the job needs. Stone or porcelain benchtops are templated by a specialist fabricator once the base cabinets are fitted. You deal with one contact person for the whole project.

Which parts of Sydney do you cover?

We work across the greater Sydney metro, with regular work in the North Shore, Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, Northern Beaches, Hills District, and the CBD and Inner South. Travel within these areas is included. If you're outside them, tell us your suburb and we'll confirm.
